About Me
I grew up in Feeding Hills, Massachusetts, a small community in the Pioneer Valley. Originally born in Providence, Rhode Island and lived my early years in Cranston, Rhode Island, where my love of the ocean state was born and where I hope to call home once more.
The eldest of three, my sisters and I, lived a life of love and stability. Empathetic by nature, my need to nurture children and animals began at an early age. My love of journal writing and reading historical fiction, specifically the Tudor Monarchy, was a constant in my teen years. I enjoyed my close friendships but was just as happy to be alone with my animals, a journal and pen.
An array of other interests has also encompassed my life. Although writing my memoir has been my creative outlet, I had a brief career as a tri athlete. Four races in total and countless road races have enabled me to keep my active life alive and kicking. Gardening, including water gardening, has been another creative outlet for me to express my vision of colors and textures. A true love of animals, including being a member of a rescue organization, has fulfilled my desire to be part of good works.
Shortly after graduation I married my college sweetheart and began my family. Those years were met with a variety of part time jobs that allowed me to be more available to my two daughters. During those years I was a CCD teacher, Brownie Leader and chauffeur and loved every minute. As my children grew and were about to enter college I decided to take on a job at a doctor’s office and write on the side.
Changes in life in the form of the illness of my daughter brought about a hairpin curve to my road of life. In devoting full time to getting her well I put my work life on the back burner. That change brought about the completion of my book. I was able to devote a large amount of time to writing and perfecting my dream.
The writing of THREADS was extremely fulfilling, exciting and scary all at once! I struggled with almost every aspect of this book to give it life. It has been an honor to create this memoir, but in the end, it is what I feel I was called to do and I couldn’t be happier with my story!
